The AV-8A Harrier is a close support attack aircraft of the United States Marine Corps.
The Harrier was commercialized by Hawker as the world's first vertical/short takeoff and landing aircraft.
The Royal Air Force quickly adopted this as the GR.1.
The U.S. Marine Corps AV-8A is basically the same as the GR.1, but the engine has been changed from the Pegasus Mk.102 to the high-output Mk.103, and was manufactured under license by McDonnell Douglas.
